Once you've opened an account and have a web site set up, there are a couple of things you should do right away. To get started, log in to the administration area using the username and password you received when you signed up. All the menu links you need are on the left side.
- You may not like the default theme, or maybe you just want to check out some alternatives? Click the right area of the "Appearance" link and a sub-menu will appear. Choose "Themes" and then click on any theme image to see a sample. Simply "activate" one you like.
- Many themes use a "tagline" that appears under your chosen site name and in some other places. To change it click the "Settings" link and then "General" and then type in whatever you like. You can change your site name there, too.
- Most themes start your web site with certain menu items, usually in a side menu, such as a calendar, list of categories, list of posts, etc. You can customize these "widgets" from the "Appearance" link - but if you do so it will usually replace all of the widgets specified by your chosen theme. So, you will have to add all of the widgets you want to use.

In addition to these three things, you should also go to gravatar.com and sign up there for a free gravatar. Poker Province is fully gravatar enabled.
A gravatar, or globally recognized avatar, is quite simply an avatar image that follows you from blog to blog appearing beside your name when you comment on gravatar enabled sites. Avatars help identify your posts on web forums, so why not on blogs?
Once you open your free account at gravatar.com, you will be able to upload and "crop" several pictures or images and then select one of them as your gravatar. It's super simple, just be sure to use the same email address there as you use to open your account here so the gravatar will be displayed here.
